Tenants – It’s getting worse unless you see both sides and write your MP

Tenants, your rents are getting more expensive. It’s getting worse for you unless you see both sides of the story and write to the MP’s.

The Green Party wants a 1% tax on All Landlords property. Because they say we’ve had rent increases of 6.6%. They estimate this will cost the average Landlord £1700, per property. Where is the money coming from? Are they nuts!

More Landlords have now finished their breakfast, ringing their solicitor to arrange eviction papers and ringing Estate Agents to put up for sale.

What if your Landlord hasn’t given you a rent increase? What if your Landlord looks after you? Gees, this is a sure-fire way of the Landlords who have looked after their tenants, now having to give them a rent increase they avoided before.

I thought I was hearing things when I heard the Green Party mention this tenant destroyer on the BBC news this morning at 0644 in. https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/live/bbcone?rewindTo=current

More Landlords packing up now Green party – Well done. And we know what that means don’t we? Yes, you got it right, even less supply and more increased rents next year, because you’ve just made the remaining Landlords the king of the castle. And ever-increasing tenants – you’ve made their life more horrendous.

I’m not a politics man, but I did a little few minute digs this morning and it seems Green Party always like to clobber Landlords. Their policies sound great, but as we know, they just reduce supply, which puts up rents.
Let’s just hope for the tenant’s sake they don’t get in then. https://twitter.com/MickRobertsBoss/status/1451441189266337809?t=rhuceJmAEhe-jhOpDiWwZQ&s=19

Yes,

I was watching that as Shelter were publicising how banning Section 21 hasn't resulted in shortage of houses, however other evidence differs.
Be nice if someone could do more digging & send Shelter.

I too do the same as u to my existing good tenants. They all know how bad it is out there & once we teach em why, many get it.

Ha ha yes, get us all on the bigger picture. Problem is, 9+ million renters and 2 million Landlords, we lose the vote. I have converted many Generation rent in the past though when they troll me on Twitter & sometimes they say at the end Ooh din't realise it was like that.

Government adopt Loony Green Party policy to introduce Section 24!
5 years of uncertainty for PRS running round like headless chickens
Some incorporated and others did not (for personal circumstantial valid reasons)
Sector divided.
Some exited, some incorporated, some sat on the fence.
Who rallied when Covid struck? Those landlords prepared to bail out tenants with repayment plans and even rent reductions.
What alternative plans have the government come up with to address the declining numbers of PRS available properties?
Section 24 prevailed despite a failed judicial review attempt represented by Cherrie Blair.

The loony policies of the Green Party were adopted by George Osbourne, who promptly disappeared from the cross hairs of scrutiny.

Do worry about a 1% tax on landlords suggested by G.P.
BUT also watch closely what about is to unfold in next weeks budget. CGT?

Be warned. I've said it before, putting rents up will eventually lead to security of tenure as well as rent control

The very worrying part of this is that the implementation of the section 24 interest relief removal was actually a Green Party policy that the then chancellor George Osbourne stole and used it as conservative policy. This will be the easiest tax to introduce and personally it would be the final straw for us. Sunak must have thought this was music to his ears, but unfortunately the only ones to suffer will be the tenants.

Yes be final straw for some, the money £1700 just like that. Let's work 2 years for nothing shall we.
How would they propose chasing it? Landlords selling now have to pay? What if you've just bought? They on cloud nine.

Yes, we just got to keep plugging that till they eventually get it, it's the tenants that end up losing.
My lot could leave me 6 years ago if they weren't happy with me or builder. They don't even ask me for 'ote any more cause they've seen all their mates been evicted for Landlord selling & seen the remainder rents £200pm more than they are paying. My calls have shot right down for repairs & maintenance & refurbs. I normally do 6 new kitchens every year, 6 new bathrooms, 10+ doors, 20+ windows. I think I'm on about 3 doors so far this years and maybe 5 windows. 1 kitchen from memory & 1 bathroom. I'm loving the less hassle. Thank u Anti-Landlord regulators, u made tenants scared to ask for 'ote.

Don't also forget that the Lib Dems and Labour wanted to introduce a wealth tax to pay for Covid handouts. A tax on all property and assets at 5% of all assets above £500 k as far as I remember with no excuses for non liquid capital .

Those that have worked and saved are always penalized in this country.

Rent control and lifetime tenancies are coming regardlees of any rent increases. This government is determined to make life difficult for both tenants and landlords, it should beware of the unintended consequences of its actions.

It will be David...but only after it's too late and we have a severe housing crisis emergency in the UK, on a level never seen before!

Inflation is running at around 6%. Green party and you all are forgetting that I see. Tenants are earning 6%+ more as well. Cleaners; fruitpickers, HGV drivers, builders, restaurant workers, everine is earning more and money is worth less as governments worldwide have been printing huge amounts. There are twice as many USD in circulation as 18 months ago. World M1 money supply up 40%. So corrosive and destructive inflation. Idiot Boris and ppliticians in general have no education. Landlords need better public relations and communication. Landlords have been and are being battered out of business for over a decade. Unique extra high stamp duty, capital gains tax, disallowance of interesr costs by Osborne, crazy onesided tenant protection, councils actively working against landlords, legalizing tenant theft during covid; not giving legal recourse to landlords during and after covid. Tenants made to lose respect for landlords. We need commercials educating tenants and politicians about the work we do and the risk we run. My bills for builders, bills I include, insurance and everything else have sll gone up by more than 6%

Exactly that has to be communicated to the media and politicians. Is there an organisation doing that ?
