Shelter again with latest TV advert!

I think the latest TV advert for Shelter is disgusting. Once again giving the impression that they provide housing and once again having a pop at landlords.

This time saying a tenant had called and said their landlord had asked them to leave the property in case they got Corona Virus. They really do make me sick.

We are fighting here to keep the country with a roof over their heads and they are spending out on advertising to keep their militant anti-landlord propaganda machine running, because the donations from B & Q and M & S are drying up.

Disgraceful.
I wonder if this is the year that Shelter will be exposed.

Reading this article, was the “tenant” actually a lodger – so likely to be very different?

If this is in fact true, surely Decent landlords need to start a campaign to have Shelter reported to the advertising standards – they are just creating more un trust between tenant and landlord and fuelling the scaremonger?

"The charity said an NHS hospital worker anonymously contacted its web chat service on March 11. They told the housing adviser their live-in landlord was scared of contracting the virus from tenants and said "they've all got to go" unless a cure is found in weeks".

Very misleading wording by Shelter as usual which means they will get away with it and it was on the 11th March the "anonymous" web chat to Shelter before all this Govt help was put in place. Nicely delayed by Shelter.

Lodged complaint with ASA and awaiting response. Screened during adverts on ITV so should come under jurisdiction of ASA. Looked at GOV.UK website for Complaining against Charity and this refers back to ASA. Perhaps need to complaint direct to Shelter by email at info@shelter.org.uk or if in Scotland shelterscot@shelter.org.uk

If the person who contacted Shelter is indeed a lodger in someone's home, the homeowner might be an old person with health issues which make her particularly vulnerable to Covid 19 so it would be really dangerous to share facilities with a lodger who is daily being exposed to heavy doses of coronavirus and from whom it is impossible for her to self-isolate. We should not be too quick to judge when the full facts are unknown, neiher should Shelter opportunistically use the case in a way which gives the impression that this is what all landlords do, suggesting they care nothing for their tenants and have no respect for the medical staff to whom we owe so much at this time. (I speak as an old person and the mother of a nurse in the thick of it.)

I tried to complain to the Charities Commission, interestingly, its run by.... the Govt !
The front complaint page wouldn't progress onto next page, so I forwarded my complaint via their Contact us page.
I also asked for FOI on Complaints against Shelter.
( I bet Shelter's stooge who's planted on this blog will be interested in that 😉

Looks like, after possibly paying money from members to family members, it's been quietly handed over to someone else. Been silent ever since. Hope you didn't give them any money lol.
