A new property platform has launched that allows property hunters to search for and sell their house while they’re on Facebook.

Property Place is the only “fully embedded on Facebook” property portal, and has over 500,000 properties listed for the millions of UK Facebook users to search.

Sohail Rashid, founder of Property Place said “Property Place makes it easier for consumers to share the decision making process with trusted friends and family on one platform.”

“Our business model doesn’t rely on estate agency subscription fees and will always remain focused on providing consumers with more control during their house move.”

Along with Leeds based Mr Rashid, Property Place was created by Google owned beatthatquote.com and Guardian Media Group Property Services.

Mark Goddard, Group MD of GMG Property Services added “selling agents should treat social media as an emerging market and a new opportunity to challenge the way properties are currently sold and let. The application offers so much more to consumers and agents over and above traditional portals. Not only does Property Place add competition to the marketplace but it will hopefully lead innovation and offer consumers and agents more transparency and control in the process. We are proud that Vebra, Core and CFP are the founding partners in this revolutionary portal.”

Isn't this something google was going to do put have withdrawn from doing so.
Why was this or is it because facebook have stolen the march on this very important way of driving traffic to it's site and consequently being able to increase advertising revenue.
It seems strange that google with their new circles social networking service seems to have dropped the ball on this one.
Are google slipping!
