Selective Licensing Consultations

Landlord Opposition Groups MUST must work together!

Each time a new selective licensing consultation period begins in another local authority area we receive another post from another disgruntled landlord.

From now on, proposed articles regarding all new Selective Licensing Consultations will be directed to this discussion thread.

It appears that landlords seem to bury their heads in the sand and don’t tackle this problem, which is spreading like a virus across the UK, until such time as it affects them personally.

Groups are then formed in isolation of the the bigger picture. The same things are discussed but there is little if any joined up thinking or collaboration with similar groups.

The time has come to pool information on one single thread.

Take a lead from those landlord groups who have successfully defended against selective licensing. It is far better to learn from other peoples successes!

Mandy this is yet another Tax on landlords, if such a scheme was to be implemented in my area it could be the straw that beaks the camels back for many landlords.

If we all help you to win your Judicial Review, then perhaps we can stop the spread.

I am very encouraged to read that you have an experienced legal team (including the barristers who won the challenge for Regas against the Enfield licensing scheme, Justin Bates and Jonathan Manning of Arden Chambers) engaged and aiming to have the issue judicially reviewed by hearing before a High Court Judge on a date to be fixed before the scheme goes live.

I wish you all the best with this and I am happy to help in any way that I can, including allowing you to post links on Property118 as appropriate and also to submit articles for our Newsletters.

I have signed your petition and I wish you group the very best of luck.

I notice this thread is old, but...
Consultation for selective licensing in Nottingham ends 31 March 2917.
Are there any people in Nottingham reading this and working together to oppose the scheme?
If so please get in touch by replying to this.

I've just paid my second £290 installment for one property in North Ormesby, the new selective licensing area of Middlesbrough and had my licence by email.

Here in Telford ,we are looking for landlords where ever they may be ,to sign our online petition .
If our council get there way we will be taking over the role of the police and rubbish collectors before long.
Not much will happen inside the homes though !
We are quite rural here but our authority seem to think we have the worst properties in the country reading their business case ,but it's the fly Tipping and ASB areas which were built in the seventies that have been selected .

Can you Landlords please sign this & forward to all your contacts.
A small hope, we have to try anything & everything.
I'm sure we not get 10k signatures, but the more Licensing & Govt start to see these things, who knows.

Given the level of selective licencing proposals should this thread be more active ?
When individuals are fighting such schemes moral support if nothing else is useful.
