Really the nonsense the greens spout has done nothing but cause great harm to landlords.
Compassion where is the compassion for a landlord who may loss their own home aswell as the btl.
The first tier tribunal system in Scotland is shocking can easily take over a year to evict . Some cases I know of 2 years 8 months.
So after that amount of time you are so desperate to get them out. If it was me I would do it even Christmas day.
If tenant left when asked chances are they would not have been put in that position.
Facts are in Scotland 93% of landlords own just one btl. 5%,0 own upto 3 the remainder own over . There is something like 1260 landlords in Scotland that are registered as owning more than three properties.
The green party are also pushing for all the net zero policies .
In Scotland if you own more than three btls you will get no financial support to improve EPC .
So tenants rent will need to go up.
Greens are also pushing if you have a rating C but have a gas or oil boiler then your rating will be down graded so that you need to fit heat source system.
Private rentals in Scotland is 14% so why push for them only to hit targets . If they really wanted to make a difference it should be every property.

Several articles in newspapers over the Christmas period have featured people (usually someone who has struggled to pay the rent) who have been evicted just before Christmas.
What actually transpires is that they have NOT been evicted but have merely had a S21 served on them.
As any landlord knows this is meaningless as it is likely a tenant will sit tight till the bailiffs drill the key lock out

There is no S21 in Scotland, also the eviction ban was lifted so the notice period would be 28-84 days depending on length of tenancy and reason for eviction.

So the Greens are asking me to let a non paying tenant stay put while it costs me money? Have I got that right?
Tell you what, if anyone in the Green Party wants compassion to be shown then put your best foot forward and cover the missing rent from those who would otherwise be evicted - no takers?? Thought not.
