Build more houses?
In a balanced population elderly pass on at roughly the same rate as the younger generation need houses, so no need for more housing.
However I’ve noticed how many more of the people who apply to rent my properties compared to ten or twenty years ago, are now from abroad.
Nothing against these people. In my experience they’re nice people. Legal migrants.
It’s the sheer numbers that worry me.
Legal net migration last year = 606k = 5000 new homes needed/week !
80% of migrants seek out rental property when they arrive = 4000 additional rental properties needed/week.
= Unprecedented extra demand.
Meantime there’s a govn’t war on landlords so many are quitting.
And Labour won’t reduce net migration.
Lab or Con = Crisis looming. Expect ever more pressure on demand for housing, more urban sprawl & ever more traffic congestion due to too many people in England.
And apparently landlords are to blame for this. So everyone needs to give us a hard time 🤔🙄

As usual politician beating the drum because they think they'll get more votes. All Angela Rayner does is put all Landlord under one umbrella that they abuse the use of Section 21 notices which simply is untrue. Sadly I think if Labour come into power she's not going to make sure section 8 notices are strengthened, that the courts are ready for it and that Landlords are also protected.At least this government took a step back and realised things needed to be in place before abolishing S21. It would be nice if all politicians engaged their brain before talking.

No amount of new home building by government has ever got close to meeting the demand from annual inward migration since Blair's time nevermind the existing population. Having a go at landlords deflects nicely from the current crop of inept politicians and their focus group based policies
