A new service designed to streamline the handling of bills during void periods for landlords and agents and tenants has been unveiled.

The Void Management service from the rent tech platform Vouch automates the process of switching bills to the correct name.

Once a tenant moves out of a property, the service will alert utilities and the council about the occupancy change.

This ensures that bills are transferred to the appropriate party.

Tech-led service

Rik Smith, Vouch’s director of tenant services, said: “This is a great example of a tech-led service that brings benefits to the whole rental ecosystem.

Void periods fluctuate – that means it’s essential to have a dynamic and easy way of handling switching, billing and management.”

He adds: “Void Management reduces admin, opens up revenue opportunities, and reduces the risk of human error.”

Vouch also says that the system can be used to switch responsibility for bills to the landlord or to agents if they are handling payments directly.

The service also includes the option of switching the property’s energy supplier to Vouch partner OVO Energy.

The supplier offers automated meter readings and potential revenue generation opportunities for agents through commission on new tenants.

Void energy bills

For properties using the Void Management service, agents can receive bill credits of up to £57 for properties with gas and electricity to offset the cost of void energy bills.

Agents also have access to a dedicated Vouch dashboard where they can track all property billing information in one place, reducing admin time.

Tenants moving into properties covered by the Void Management service will benefit from a simplified move-in process through the Tili home move assistant tool.

This allows them to manage their bills for council tax, water, energy, and broadband in a single location.
