And the landlord vote goes to – Please vote again

Editors note: The voting form has recently been set up again so you can only cast one vote. Dr Beck would be most grateful if you could vote again if you haven’t already. Many thanks.

In recent months there has been much speculation about a general election being called early. I would like to get an idea of landlords’ voting intentions – which I then aim to relay to politicians. So could you please select out of the options below?

It would also then be very helpful if you could expand on your answers below in the comments section. You don’t have to answer each of the following points – just those you want to.
For example, if you have switched allegiance or you haven’t, could you give your reasons? Could you also give your thoughts on what you think of each party and their policies and attitude towards the private rented sector? You may also vote for a party for other reasons, unrelated to your role as a landlord, so it would also be interesting if you explained that.

I would also be interested in your insights into what you think your tenants might vote, if you have any idea or just your general thoughts on how you think the Government’s and Opposition’s approach to the PRS is likely to affect tenants’ voting patterns – particularly, whether you think that the Government’s recent assault on the sector is likely to gain them the ‘tenant vote.’

This could be important in terms of advocating for our sector, so please take part.

I vote for what I consider to be the least worst option and Jeremy Corbyn has me very concerned with his anti-capitalist ideology.

When it comes to voting, politicians chase numbers rather groups. A lot of people rent their homes, a lot of people want to be home-owners, comparatively few people own other peoples homes.
Very few MPs and would be MPs are going to be talking about making life easier for landlords in the next election, almost all of them will be talking about making things better for the former two groups I mentioned above.

The option of "No suitable candidate" is not given. I suspect that may who would abstain, including me, do so because they consider that there is no suitable candidate or party.

I abstained from voting last time but would make the effort to be able to vote as a non-resident this time.

As much as I hate what the Conservatives have done, I would feel compelled to vote for them to keep Corbyn out of 10 Downing Street. The prospects of having a Marxist Prime Minister fills me with fear to the point that I would vote for anybody who had a chance of keeping him out. I'd go as far as to say that I'd rather vote for George Osborne than Corbyn!

None of the current mob of politicians deserve a vote. However, as Mark has already mentioned Corbyn is a real and present danger. So I too will be casting my non resident vote for the Con’s, but only in the hope of keeping Corbyn out.

The Conservatives have betrayed their core voters AND have also caused mass homelessness. I've voted Tory all my life up to the last election but never again.

I voted Tory last time. Next time around I could not vote for this tax raising anti landlord anti business party. The prospect of Corbyn in Downing st is horiffic. Labour, as before will collapse the economy but instead of the slow cancer of the Cons destroying the PRS we will have Corbyn economics where everything will collapse pretty quick and the £ will go in to freefall. The new government elected to rescue the economy after Corbyn and Mcdonnell, would then have to reverse all the current policies. It is unfortunate but that is the reality. To summarise it will get worse before it gets better. For these reasons I will abstain from.voting in the next election.

I will vote conservative even though I don't trust any of them. Just look at this week, hardly any of the Mp's that put in no confidence letters care about Brexit all they want is their own glory and a chance at the leadership.

They don't care if they destroy the party and hand the country to Corbyn.
