Enough is Enough!

Enough is Enough!

I’ve had ENOUGH of lazy journalists who blame private landlords for the housing crisis.Had enough

I’ve had ENOUGH of MPs who pay lip service to concern for tenants.

I’ve had ENOUGH of charities who demonise landlords.

I’ve had ENOUGH of government ministers and their civil servants who pursue ill thought out policies.

I’ve had ENOUGH of tenants who believe they should have the right to live rent-free.

I’ve had ENOUGH of a judicial system that moves so slowly that it compounds the misery of law-abiding landlords.

I’ve had ENOUGH of councils with half-baked selective licensing schemes that are little more than fundraising scams.

I’ve had ENOUGH of mortgage lenders that renege on contracts.

I’ve had ENOUGH of agents who work in their interests, not their clients.

I’ve had ENOUGH of landlord associations that pussyfoot around the issues.

AND I’ve had ENOUGH of landlords who bury their heads in the sand believing that, somehow, these issues won’t affect them.

If YOU have had enough of these things too, don’t just complain about them – do as I just did and join the Property118 Action Group and start fighting back!

Steve

"I’ve had ENOUGH of landlord associations that pussyfoot around the issues"

Steve, any particular association - or all of them??

Fully understand your frustration - the good landlords get tarred with the same brush, we are soft targets unfortunately.

I may be up for doing this - I would like others' suggestions about it as I have no idea what the Charity Commission does. I can look it up, find its remit etc., but wonder if anyone has any background information on it. Also, I would need to be looking closely at Shelter's purported aims and so on and how their charitable status is justified - so again any ideas would be welcome.

And I have had ENOUGH of Red Tape, deposit protection which leaves landlords who make a minor error liable to huge fines, supplying "How to Rent" documents which are designed to catch landlords wanting to evict on a section 21, EPC's which no tenat reads, Judges who will use any 'technical irregularity' excuse to reject a section 21 or section 8, Border Control obligations again with disproportionate fines.

I have had ENOUGH of a legal system which allows tenants to damage a property with no effective penalty.

I have had ENOUGH of the police insisting that deliberate damage is not criminal because there is an AST in place (look at the first page of the Criminal Damage Act to realise that almost anything is criminal damage).

I have had ENOUGH of a police force who fail to deal with drug abuse.

I have had ENOUGH of Universal Credit and the lies which politicians use to justify rent payment to tenants.

I fully agree with Terry Sullivan that Shelter should lose its charitable status.

PS I have had ENOUGH of blinkered politicians.

Should we invite Duterte to come and sort out the problem?

Does this mean I can get money from Shelter to insulate my building? In 2018 many of my flats are going to fail the EPC test and I shall be unable to provide accommodation for "HOMELESS PEOPLE AND (AMONG) THOSE IN NEED"?

I think I might know the answer.

Unfortunately David I fear not as I assume your aims are not charitable.

Again unfortunately being a charity does not preclude political campaigning, more reading - https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/434427/CC9_LowInk.pdf

perhaps a note to the Taxpayers Alliance? political campaigning by charities is one of their bugbears!
