We are collecting the rent using GoCardless, as a private landlord (not LTD).
We pay 6£ (max fee) per month, deducted from rent.
This gives us an option to try 3 times a failed payment (did not have any, but who knows the future?).
The tenant signed in 10 minutes - no comments from his side.
Very happy until now.

Thanks for the positive testimonial for GoCardless which will hopefully provide some comfort to the skeptics.

I've always found them to be very efficient and affordable too, which is why I have no problem supporting them here on Property118.

GoCardless didn't accept an application to open a new account (a couple of months back) on a SA property business - their response:

As you provide guest accommodation services, regrettably, due to our current Risk appetite, we are currently not onboarding any businesses that offer services within the travel sector. There are certain industries that we consider to be a higher risk, and travel services, are currently included in this category. The main reason for this is due to the future-dated nature of the service and the subsequent increased level of exposure to the risk of chargebacks that this presents. We regularly review our policies and in time we may consider changing our position on this; however there are no plans to do so in the near future.

In addition, this month on 3 completely unrelated businesses - 1 is a membership - they refused the application, and 2 which have been using GoCardless for about 10 years got a message this month that said we no longer fit their criteria so they'll be closing our account!! Currently can't log into our account - we have been scrambling about as we don't know if collections will be returned to clients or not made, or from when this starts, so we're in the process of moving to Stripe and looking at alternative options. It's been a shambles, after many years of great service.
