Carmarthenshire County Council is inviting feedback on proposed regulations for Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs) within the Tyisha and Glanymor districts of Llanelli.

Residents, landlords, tenants, and those with ties to the two wards are now being encouraged to share their opinions on a potential additional licensing scheme for HMOs.

The consultation wants views on the necessity for such a scheme, potential license conditions, associated costs and the potential benefits and drawbacks.

The council says that the responses will aid in shaping the Additional Licensing Scheme for the region.

‘Elevate the standards of larger rental homes’

The council’s Cabinet Member for Homes, Cllr Linda Davies Evans, said: “The objective of additional licensing is to elevate the standards of larger rental homes and ensure that landlords maintain high quality in the area.

“We urge landlords, residents, and anyone interested in Tyisha and Glanymor to contribute to shaping an Additional Licensing Scheme by sharing any previous experiences with HMOs, suggesting measures that could benefit both residents and landlords, and considering the potential impact of this Scheme.”

The council’s website has a page with more information about the licensing proposal and a link for offering feedback.
