You have written "Complete and Utter Bollocks" The terminology used alone seems to suggest that you have made the whole thing up.

You could not fool me. Scan and post letter and hide your own personal details. I have personally written to Philip Hammond and have received 2 standard responses which they keep sending time after time although last response which I received from Senior member of treasury put some meat on the bone but nothing exciting.

Simon.

The flaw in you conspiracy theory where you suggest I am making it up, has truth only in so much as my post has foundations in a self deprecating paradigm.... as shakespeare once said... "You cant make this S**t up"

Sorry to pee on your parade my friend but Hammond is a mini Osborne accept he has the benefit of being able to lay the blame of the origin at the door of another... Hammond is quite brilliant. Hammond explicitly has no intention of undoing Tenant Tax in any form! AND if and when it does go wrong he has public enemy #1 to lay the blame on and he, Hammond, can be the man that saved the day! If you were Hammond, you'd do the same... suppose Tenant Tax works - Hammond says "I knew that and that is why i left to alone" supposing it goes wrong... Hammond says "See? that is why the twerp Osborne had to go. We could not undo all his mad ideas all at once, but fear not... I will fix it if you vote for me as I am the good guy - Hooray!" Hammond is on "win - win" and that strategy does not involve nice things for you, your rental business or your tenants.

I s**t you not!

This is all very worrying Mark.

On a more serious note, We (My partner & I) are in the process of arranging a second meeting with Philip Hammond, having received the standard - as you say B**l S**t letter the first time round. He has asked that we put our own specific points, that we would like to discuss. However in light of your post, this all seems like a Total waste of time.

As suggested in this forum - The hope was that the Government would see sense - However as you quite rightly point out - & it is also my opinion (especially taking into consideration all the previous U-turns they've already had to do - the latest being the pension annuity debacle), this is not in their interest. Either way Philip Hammond is in a Win Win situation as previously suggested. When the S**t hits the fan they'll just carry on blaming Landlords & of-course George.

Here's a thought as Property 118 are Re-branding as "The Landlords Union" I think that's a fantastic idea - how about we take industrial Action !!!!!! I know we can't go on strike - But other types of co-ordinated industrial action is possible - Such as all submitting our own tax returns on-line all together on the 31st of January & / or all of us possibly calculating our tax returns for 2018 based on the current system & then appealing, the tax decision.

Other idea's are possibly funding bill-boards across the country & adverts in the press to show that the Government have been advised by all the professional bodies about the impending disaster & consequences but have chosen to ignore all advise.

Anybody have any other idea's ????

IMHO I think we need to engage tenants more. I am not sure if there are any tenant oriented organisations (except Shelter who do not seem to care about tenants too much), but it would be worth getting message across to them.
Perhaps the Landlords Union can came up with a standard letter (I know it was explored before, but we have a lot of new facts since then), to send to our tenants along with the rent increase notice and an address of a local MP to write to...

I very much like the rebranding to Landlords Union. United we must be!

Sunita, I do suggest, that you still meet Philip Hammond second time around. What MarkB has stated is not verified as I asked him to scan a letter and hide his personal details but he has failed to do so.

As they saying goes if it is not in writing it did not happen. In this case it is B*** S***.

Hi Sunita.
Would you be willing to take along another person - eg Steve Bolton from the Axe the Tenant Tax campaign? I can suggest a few other people as well who would love to have an audience with Philip Hammond but are not in his constituency. I have also written a comprehensive report explaining what an unmitigated disaster this is and it can be presented to him. It should be available as a pdf within the next week. Perhaps you could ask Neil here on Property118 to give me your email address and we can take it from there. I would definitely push for your second meeting though.

Hi sunita

You can't pass up on this chance as he may well not know as much as u think he does, as most are the spokespersons for others ideas / policies... we have seen that alot of these MPs haven't a clue about what it actually is (madness I know)

I would definitely suggest it is kept short and straight to the point stating basic real life financial plights of portfolio landlords under this insane policy with the knock on effects there's loads of examples out there from all the great work being done
