Hi Kathy

Why did you write that there will be a separate self-assessment form for each property?

Have I missed some guidance about the proposed new tax reporting arrangements? This is the first mention I've come across of having to report on each property separately and I understood that the detail was yet to be announced. Can you point me to the source of this information please?

I vaguely remember that our 'favourite George' was making noises about quarterly tax reporting. It was supposed to be a shorter form, submitted only electronically. It was not supposed to happen until -I think - 2017. But those noises died out, perhaps they realised that there is not enough HMRC staff to process that.
Maybe the others remember better- know more?
I have not heard about reporting each property separately.

There was a recent announcement about businesses with less than £10000 annual turnover being exempt from, if I remember correctly, quarterly reporting but no mention that I've seen of any detail apart from that.

Well, the consultation is still ongoing until 7/11, but I think it's 2018 for all non-Ltds with turnover over 10,000. Must use dedicated software - not a spreadsheet - no free one provided by HMRC. Cash basis for accounts if you want it. Can't remember where I saw all properties separately, but it was in one of the MTD papers - I remember a comment about there being nowhere to account for things like insurance (which apply to all properties) until the year end.

Not a separate form, just a separate "line". If you have more than 6 properties you are already doing it.

But bad as the Tories are, are not the Socialists worse for landlords? The Monster Raving Loony party is beginning to look quite good‽

Of course they are, David. I am the last one in the UK to vote Labour!
