What a prize bunch of tw*ts. What on earth makes 'Helen Gordon' think that letting out property isn't a difficult business for us as well and that we don't do things like help deliver babies? I've had to wipe the blood off someone who smashed his head deliberately into an internal glass door, and hold onto his head tightly to stop him bleeding to death while calling and waiting for the ambulance. Big whoop. As usual there is no evidence of institutions doing anything better than us. The most notable distinction between us is the massive rents they charge. What is this about encouraging people to live beyond their means, that she mentions? How irresponsible. And they'll never get to save a deposit that way. She offers no justification of her expectation that institutions should effectively receive 'state aid' while we are treated in a grossly discriminatory way. What a prize plonker.

In this case you will pay less tax as you will offset more tax. Although you will have less take home as you will pay more to Mortgage Lender but less to Taxman.

Quite. If Grainger want preferential treatment they can register as a charity and provide social housing.

I was interested in a couple of figures in the Grainger plc trading update (today) - it continues to push up rents far ahead of CPI / RPI, yet is letting properties more quickly than previously.

"Year to date rental growth on new lets of 4.9% and 2.8% on renewals.

On newly acquired assets, we have seen rental growth increasing over the past three months, with rent increases on new lets in July averaging 5.8% and the time taken to let the properties falling steadily over the last three months."

Dear Fellow Landlords, I was putting off serving the rent increase hoping that the new Government will come to their senses and will abolish Section 24. Unfortunately it does not seem to be the case, so the plan is to serve Section 13 Form 4 to the tenants (currently on the periodic tenancy). They are brilliant tenants and I am doing that terribly reluctantly, but have no choice. I am planning to send a cover letter explaining that the increase is solely due to the Section 24 and the increase is to cover that additional unfair taxation and encourage them to write to our local MP (I might decide to send them a template as well, as their English is not brilliant).
I seem to remember that somewhere in the 874 pages of posts here there were examples / templates for such letters. If anyone could point me out in the right direction I would be very grateful. Alternatively if anyone has such templates and is willing to share it with the community - it would be brilliant. I am sure I am not the only one in this situation.
Thank you!

This is hilarious...what Nigel Farage says about George Osborne:

Mr Farage has quit and returned once before, in the space of a few days, following the 2015 General Election."If Brexit wasn't delivered, then I would have to think seriously about plunging back in," he said. "But I hope I don't have to."

Meanwhile, he revealed he felt sorry for David Cameron when he was forced to resign as prime minister after the referendum but was less sympathetic towards ex-chancellor George Osborne.
"I'd have dragged him out by the scruff of the neck," he said.
"I thought his behaviour was despicable.
"Pasty-faced bastard. I'm pleased to see the back of him. I hope he never ever appears in public again."

I know David..this is an idiom used to claim that a person is guilty of the very thing of which they accuse another. So in other words you are saying that, Farrage is a ba****d himself?
