It will be very interesting to watch what Gidiot & Co decide...
All in the name of fairness, of course.

Plans.....? Build to rent has very much arrived. Look around London now and you see large numbers of new large developments being built for build to rent. Just passed one now on the train. I can't forsee the government doing anything to hamper that anytime soon.

I'd buy in limited if it was me although quite a few Tory MPs are starting to take notice of the damage it will do

Apparently, the courts are running a bit slow and so there is no news yet. The crowdjustice fund is now not far off the £100,000 mark. If anyone feels like throwing in a bit more to get it up to six figures, the link is here:

https://www.crowdjustice.co.uk/case/tenanttax/?utm_source=JOINED+LIST+-+Tenant+Tax+%2B+Alice+in+Wonderland&utm_campaign=c634dd99f8-150516_Clause24&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_e53fad36e0-c634dd99f8-133878881

The Summit, by the way, for those unable to attend, went very well, with some excellent speeches, followed by various interviews and so on. I expect Steve or Chris will put up some links at some point so that you can see some of what went on. A highlight for me was the speech by Lord Flight. He seems to be working hard to persuade others to follow him in his support of the 'private' landlord and his opposition to the lunatic tax. If anyone wants to write to him to thank him, that could be good. I did so today - or to do anything else you fancy which contributes to this campaign - it could be give money, but it could also be getting back on to your MP, writing to the papers and so on.

I would also like to say a massive thanks to Steve and Chris and also Jamie for organising the Summit. There was an excellent turn-out and hopefully this will go down in history as a turning-point in the campaign to get this thing smashed.

Yes Ros

The summit was a massive effort from many people and a big thanks to Steve Chris Jamie . It was fantastic to meet some of the people from Property 118 forum there to.
I have donated again to push the fund, anyone else who can spare some please donate again.
I too like Lord Flights speech ,also the accountant was also very clear and wants to reach out to all accountants to spell out what it will mean now to their clients even with one mortgaged property.
Again it was expressed that still many of the smaller landlords with up to 4 properties are completely unaware of whats coming.
It was good that the NLA have donated 10,000

Hi
Yes, It was a good summit and thank you to all who organized it and worked hard to make it a success.
I got talking to David Smith (RLA Policy director) asked why they were not helping financially when NLA pledged. David said they have offered £5000.00 and more if needed to Chris and Steve, Chris and Steve are waiting to hear back from the courts before taking the money.
Yesterday( Friday) on BBC London news 10.30 pm there was a short piece on the Summit and and short interview with Chris. There was also a lady from Shelter who agreed with the goverment. Pity they had to bring her in

Assistance from the NLA was long overdue. They failed to provide any help in the Birmingham Midshires case and must be terribly embarrassed that Property 118 and their members stood up and won. The NLA I feel are a weak and timid organisation and not at all fit to meet the challenges that a broad anti - landlord coalition of Shelter, Housepricecrash and, to my amazement, The Tories, have brought to our lives and livings.
I will not rejoin the NLA or the RLA, two toothless old lions that are not fit for purpose now and simply stand on the sidelines wringing their hands.
Three cheers for Property 118, their team, and all of us who put our hands in our pockets to fund the case.

At 22.37 tonight this report on the Tenant Tax summit will disappear! http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b07dndnl/london-news-10062016 about 3 minutes 45 seconds in.

It was good to see the BBC report Section 24 properly, without the defeatism of Jaye Cook who predicted we would just sell up, and who wanted us to give the proceeds to Property Partner. Maybe complaining to the BBC does have an effect.

The Treasury used its right of reply to talk about “generous reliefs” for property maintenance!

The policy Director from Shelter, a charity for the homeless, applauded the idea that FTB’s would find it a bit easier to buy. She did not seem concerned that if landlords sell to FTB’S there will be fewer properties for the poor and homeless to rent.

David Kingman’s excretion seems to have infected the brains at Shelter, as well as the Green Party and the Treasury.

Chris Rogers also devoted part of his radio programme to the Summit, starting about 5 minutes 25 seconds in.

This is available for another 28 days. At the start there was an interview with someone from the NLA. Then Chris interviewed our very own Jamie Fraser, who was excellent. Interviews with other landlords followed, then the anti-landlord brigade joined in, claiming we were all greedy, we were all rogues who don’t repair boilers or provide curtain rails!
