I was too late to donate for the first funding call, but have pledged for this one and will be at there on 9th June - I can't understand why we haven't hit the £50k already. This thread has been accessed over 451,000 times - at £1 a time we'd have a huge fighting fund. What are all those who have accessed the tread in the past doing now?

However, I would not have been aware the next funding stage was open had I not checked the Property118 website - is it possible to email all subscribers specifically to let them know that fund raising to fight this Tenant Tax is open again.

Yours in unity and 100% support, Richard of York

Hopefully, once the associations publicise this it will generate a surge. What we've got so far is just the 118'ers spreading the word but if the landlord public hear about it from other sources we'll raise more.

But you're right, clearly many people are looking but maybe not donating all they can.

Hi All

I sent e-mail to RLA last night. No response. Followed it up with a telephone call this morning. Tom asked me to send an email at
campaigns and he will get some one to look at it. I have requested emails to be sent to all members with the link (provided ) I will follow it up this afternoon

"English law allows actions for libel to be brought in the High Court for any published statements alleged to defame a named or identifiable individual or individuals (under English law companies are legal persons, and allowed to bring suit for defamation[91][92][93]) in a manner that causes them loss in their trade or profession, or causes a reasonable person to think worse of them" source wiki I'm no lawyer but that looks pretty close?

Steady On!

Name calling won't help anyone - we can't complain about the public perception of the PRS, if we say almost exactly the same thing about another group of people ("over privileged parasites").

Hi

Contacted RLA, the same person. He said the manager and other people are looking into it. No definitive answer as yet because they have to consider a lot of things before they can publish/send emails. I could not pin him down to a time frame however I did point out that this is urgent. Asked the question regarding how many corporates and private. He said is mixed. I asked about LA he said there are a few but more LL. He suggested may be contact ARLA.

Shelter yet again proving how little they know about the PRS and in turn the tidlewave that will hit many landords when C24 bites. How these organisations get where they are is beyond me really is, have they looked into the figures ? Do they understand that making a loss cannot be sustained and that paying more in tax than profit doesn't make commercial sense ?

Yes, they don't seem to care that rents are already rising because of this. They think that to attack landlords is to help tenants. Very silly. I have pointed them to my article on the Irish experience of this but Campbell Robb's reply to me was that of a politician - ignoring all the rational and logical argument and repeating nonsense.

I think that their constant attack of us to disguise the fact that they do nothing positive or constructive. What they should be doing is using some of their £50 million budget on providing shelter; otherwise they should change their name to 'we hate landlords (but only if they're not incorporated and have mortgages).' (not as catchy as 'Shelter' but far more accurate). We should set up a landlord union and call it 'Shelter,' or the 'the Shelter Union' or something similar. And if they get us for plagiarism or whatever we can go to court and point out to a judge that their use of the name is fraudulent whereas ours would be an accurate description of what we do.

Can anyone help me with the answer to this question:

I know that as 6-4-17 the first wave of interest relief reductions takes place ie 40% & 45% tax payers will only be able to claim for 75% of the value of their interest expense "as an actual expense", but is this 75% value of interest expense going to be deducted from our net profit BEFORE tax is calculated or is this "first year", the year that interest no longer becomes an expense AT ALL and instead the tax credit is applied back off our calculated tax bill?

I understand that from 2020 interest will no longer be a valid expense at all and we just receive tax credits, but wondered about the "lead in" 4 years that we have been given. I'm trying to do tax cash flow projections for the next 4 years.

Many thanks in advance.
