I don't know how I can live with myself David, apparently I'm depriving potential homeowners from buying the property as a result of my selfishness and the need to feed my big empire building ego.

Has anyone else noted how the 24-7 copy/paste keyboard warrior geniuses @ HPC who tend to dominate / try to manipulate ALL online C24 news articles comments sections are still somewhat strangely tight lipped about the obvious benefits that many leveraged (loans or shareholders' cash) 'corporate' LLs will receive as a result of C24 being implemented? Normally they call GO 'gidiot', but now all of a sudden they appear to buy his nonsense...

I can't figure out why that is. Other than they actually do realise C24 is nonsensical like everyone else with a brain cell but they pray C24 will somehow help give some relief to HPCers with their OTT schadenfreude symptoms?

Mark, there are a couple of plans over there: one of them is going to buy a boat and live on a canal if his LL puts his rent up, several have the cash ready to buy a property but resolutely refuse to purchase a property for more than £10.50, ...and how and why shelter and the Harry Potter fans cant see that the government is about to feather its own nest (in a very big way !) at tenant and FTB buyers huge loss is quite beyond me ...see the bigger picture FFS

For those that understand this, no explanation is neccesary, for those that dont, no explanation is possible.

"L&G Capital & PGGM (Dutch Fund Manager) have launched a Joint Venture to invest an initial £600m in build to rent. Their first site is in Bristol bought from property developer Square Bay for £4.8m. This is their first major build to rent scheme. The site has planning permission for 168 new homes for private rent plus commercial space with completion expected Autumn 2018. This first step follows L&G Capital’s earlier pledge to “DISRUPT THE STATUS QUO OF THE COTTAGE INDUSTRY NATURE OF THE UK PRIVATE RENTED MARKET”
This is the first of many I’m sure. Frightening!"

this has been nagging in my mind all night, the whole premiss of GO reforms is to get FTB and, renters and families into family homes, to stop BTLetters outbidding them and to slow down the growth of rented properties to allow OO.

Then WTF is this all about ? these properties are being built by huge corporations:
1. specifically "BUILD TO RENT"
2. they are unlikely to ever come on to the market for anyone to buy
3. Rents will have to be higher than individual LL to get investor returns.
4. make prop market even less active, as not (now or ever) on the market. Clearly for FTB we need either a) new prop to purchase, or b) people moving up the ladder to free up stock- this negates both activities.(or for Harry Crew - LL to sell a few)
5. restriction of location to rent ie ,not close to families, friends etc as rented area held on one estate
6. probable return of tenemant ghettos
7. more money flooding out of UK due to smart arse osborne/little type corporate rental company structures
8. it is poignant that this is in Bristol , i see planty of focus being put here as it was here Bradley Stoke affectionately known as "Sadly Broke" attracted much attention in the early nineties for being souless, no parking & crazy negative equity.
9. disrupt "status quo" ??? - has any other band managed to keep going with a winning formula for as long as them !!!? #stillgoing strong!!
10. the only good news is that the Harry Potter Crew make actually see what is coming now and put the right shirt on and join the fight to save their homes , their income, the PRS and the UK economy in general. I can actually see a time in the not too distant future when they stand side by side with us to stop this utter destructive nonsense...may take a while yet tho lol !!

Another one niggling me .....LHA gets cappped, 100's of thousands of council houses to be sold off/knocked down, then anyone earning more than a pittance gets there own guvmunt "Tenant Tax" ...and all ths help reduce BTL and achieve greater OO figs....too complex former ..wizardry maybe ? .....bet there will be reams of charts and figs to explain how this is going to help OO rates over at Hogwarts ?

Absolutely fantastic to see this being called exactly what it is tho "Tenant Tax" ..coming in various forms and routes but still a TAX ON THE TENANT

And another ..... George are you paying attention to what is going on out here ?

“Rented housing is crucial to enabling young people to quickly access work opportunities wherever they might be. By making it more difficult for them to secure rental properties Ministers are making work prospects increasingly difficult for them."
