I must have missed Jim Haliburton's protest post on here! Or is the HMO daddy one of GOs favoured elite?

Here's a scenario based on Marks comment 08/07/2015.
A couple buy a house for their son/daughter to live in on the basis that they pay the interest. (I know it's not allowed but don't tell me it's not done) under the current rules there's no profit because the income and expense is the same, but under the new rules there will be tax to pay on the total rent collected. I wouldn't mind betting that there's lots of families doing this without realising the consequences.

Looking forward further news on the fight C24!

there is a survey set up for helping government by NaCBA VAT SURVEY , may be interesting and useful... . the gov is certainly learning and consulting mass before grabing money wherever possible, often targeting creative and hardworking people...
I could not copy the link to here, could someone help if this is useful to know. The survey is called:
Learning about Self-builders and vat reclaims

http://www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/david-cameron-has-earned-500000-in-private-rent-since-becoming-prime-minister-a6815596.html

Wonder if Cameron has a mortgage surprising how many MPs are landlords making this tax grab even more strange I bet u most of these don't understand it or haven't bothered or are the rich cash buyers probably the latter hence why they are let off

Reply to the comment left by "NW Landlord" at "16/01/2016 - 16:00":

What they don't get, nor the envy-anarchists- whingers posting on every forum and article they can, fighting eviction for non payment of rent scumbags, wanting housing for nothing at other's expense, is:- renting is right for millions, more than half WANT to rent, rather than buy.

Further they need a vibrant rental market for choice of the right size, right location, right price to rent. The political and regulatory attacks are most counterproductive for competition to limit prices.

An interesting but dated article on the rent/buy balance is

Osborne should be minded to see how Australian buy-to-let tax policies have shifted – or not – after much lobbying:

John Lee of Wealth Dragons has begun to warn his 20'000+ Facebook contacts of Clause 24:

I believe this to be a very positive development.

Are there any landlords here with properties in the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham? Particularly ones that let to low income tenants?
