A sacred cow... And this a policy of blood sacrifice to a non-existent beneficiary, designed to trick and appease a primitive, baying mob.

She says "However, they can minimise the tax they have to pay by deducting certain "allowable expenses" from their taxable rental income.". So this isn't right?

5) Council tax (where it is the landlord, and not the tenant, who pays it)

6). Utility bills (where it is the landlord who pays the bill)

So for. £1,000 council tax bill, paid by the Landlord, has to pay £400 income tax on it. So loses £400.

Ditto for a £1,000 utility bill.

But of the £400 there 40% tax on that......

So the tenant pays £1,666-66 for each, £1,333-33 EXTRA, p.a. under her twisted logic. She is as daft as Alice in Blunderland and his tax.

Just a quick reminder to everyone that the House of Commons Communities and Local Government Committee is still accepting submissions:

http://www.parliament.uk/business/committees/committees-a-z/commons-select/communities-and-local-government-committee/inquiries/parliament-2015/inquiry1/.

Here you can upload your own evidence concerning the current and potential causes of homelessness: explaining how Clause 24 will force yours or your clients’ rents to increase and how it will force poorer renters out of the private rental sector. Please ensure that you follow the Parliament website's formatting guidelines when preparing your written evidence.
