I would just like to say that Chris and I are only carrying on the work that was started by many other people who have been fighting this for the last 6 months. To succeed this is an on-going battle and we all need to do what we can do.

We chose to step up because we felt the online petition had lost momentum and was starting to hide the fact that so many people are very angry about this and want to fight it.

There is a stretch funding goal after the £15k has been met of a further £35,000. Please don't let up in pushing this. £15k gets us the initial legal Opinion but we fully expect to go to the next stage, which is where the proper fight begins.

It would be amazing and is our goal to fully fund this through as many people as possible in the shortest possible time-frame. It will help our PR campaign with the national media so please keep sharing.

If we can all get 5 others to financially pledge, that would be amazing. This is much about the number of people who donate, than it is about the amount.

Hi Lun Bun - you are very welcome. There is also a 118 campaign group who work tirelessly on this campaign, and I would like to thank them, Chris.

Couldn't agree more Steve - there is a tremendous ground swell of support out there too. The Government did not consult us, listen to our submissions - or the numerous letters we sent our MPs People are rightly angry, and this is a way for those people to feel that they have a voice.

I would like to add that the vast majority of landlords have no problem paying taxes and contributing in a positive way to the economy and our society.

Clause 24 though is unfair, unjust and highly unintelligent in our professional opinion

I totally concur with you Steve.

I am wondering, if lawyers would be exploring the avenue of retrospective taxation...which in my opinion and a family friend who is a lawyer said would be strongest part of our case.

So even if government is successful in justifying this taxation, I believe they will have an uphill struggle justifying it as being retrospective.

I've pledged £250 and I will contribute more when we get to the second hurdle as I'm sure we will. My only concern is that you could have provided ICAEW's criticisms or at least a link to them on the case page - can you add it now?

Hi Tracey - that's marvellous, thank you. We considered a link, but Crowd Justice advised against any link which took people away from the site. Hope that helps, Chris.
