I do not feel I could tell a tenant I was going to evict them just to make a point to the Chancellor. Apart from which if Section 21s were served at the volume you suggest the probability is the Government would pass emergency legislation to prevent it. As to what the press are likely to say - I don't think they will be blaming the Chancellor, the headlines would be all about greedy landlords.

Yes - I think the poll tax riots would be a picnic compared to the scale and ferocity of physical violence that would break out.

I don;t believe it is exaggerating to say that lives (landlords lives) would be put at risk as a result.

I think issuing section 21s like that would defeat a big part of why I'm participating in this campaign. I want my tenants to stay and leave when they're ready, and feel safe under my roof. If I was hard enough to start eviction proceedings to beat Clause 24, I wouldn't have most of my motivation to fight Clause 24 in the first place.

I agree, much as I would love to do something to make the govt/councils sit up and take notice, I don't think this is it.

If I served Section 21 notices on my tenants, who are all young single professionals, they would just find somewhere else. They may have to pay more, but they know that I put their rents up with the market prices every year anyway.

I really believe we are fighting loosing battle on clause 24

I am not talking about section 21s out of protest I am doing it to sell my larger properties reduce my interest and avoid properties becoming loss making when rates rise modestly if you keep trying to overturn clause 24 without getting your ship in order you will end up missing the boat and getting in trouble in my opinion

This is happening the government think by doing this it will stream line the sector and having ltd companies etc it's easier to police in there eyes at the minute they believe it is out of control with two many one man bands controlling the sector.

The second thing their rich hedge fund buddies want a piece of the action hence why they end up not having the same tax treatment they know what they are doing they can do what they like gotta look after yourself and your own interests I'm afraid sad but true.

Hi Charmaine, I have a job and have built a portfolio of 15 properties, over a thirteen year period. I took up an offer of an irreversible part time contract from my employer, once my property income would replace any loss of income from going part time. Clause 24 will wipe that out. I will pay tax on net losses on the property income. The combined "income" from my job and property takes me over the £100,000 threshold, so I will start losing my personal tax allowance. My take home pay fall from £37,277 to £26,901. Can you tell me about the planned TV item?

Hi Everyone,

If you’re going to e-mail your council, warning them about the financial impact of Clause 24 and its knock-on effects upon poorer renters and their waiting lists, here is how I now recommend you do it.

Your council will have a page on its website, showing a gallery of all of its executive members. You may need to use Google to find it, it will normally bear the title of “executive members” or “councillors” or “about the council” or something along those lines. You may need to type in a particular job role like “leader of the council” into the search engine along with the council name to find the page.

Once you have found it, click each portrait/hyperlinked name to see the councillors’ profiles and copy and paste their e-mail addresses into a list of your own.

Once you’ve got them, further copy and paste these listed e-mail addresses into your e-mail’s BCC box and send it to the whole executive committee.

My MP didn't want to know even when I told her face to face my business partner has 300 houses in her constituency that are under threat from clause 24. I told her this would be powder keg as these houses are in a deprived area where first time buyers wouldn't buy so if she's not even bothered what chance have you got with councils ???

Because the councils are going to be on the front-line trying to deal with the fallout from this mess.

Their already demotivated housing departments and workforce are going to be pushed to breaking point. They can relate more closely to what we're saying than Westminster politicians.

They are going to "feel" what's coming down the track more acutely than MPs.

Plus it costs nothing to try.
