I totally disagree with George Osborne's approach to the PRS because it's unfair, it penalises a section of society who voted for his party and there are some ther solutions that would work better. However, he us a dastardly clever chap and he has an instinct for both politics and economics which you have to at least respect. We have found ourselves the most dangerous of all adversaries, one who thinks he doesn't need us. However there is one tiny ray of hope, he is also a pragmatist as witnessed by his climb down in his statement. This tells us that while no amount of bleating will influence him, if he thinks he risks losing the popular support he will back down, only landlords, not agents could influence him

If you have 15 or more properties in a Ltd company then new stamp duty tax does not affect you.

So, technically, you could buy 15 low cost properties as cheap as £20K and then you could be exempt from these changes.

Once you have aforementioned in place you can then buy anything which will then fall in line with OO'S as long as it is purchased in company....See this clever b*****d (Osborne) always leaves a loophole for his rich mates.

Kathy,

As mentioned before, landlords are out numbered by tenants and would be owners.
Average landlord has 4-5 houses so we are out numbered by tenants 4 or 5 to one. some of these will house more than a single person so the real value is likely to be 6-7 to one.

Then add would be home owners to the mix and the real figure is maybe 8-9 to one.
Now imagine that all these are couples and the figures get a factor larger.
8-9 couples to 1 couple.
16-18 votes compared to 2.
The math just does not give landlords a say in this.

Just look at clause 24, big noise, and nothing happened it got royal assent a few days ago, no amendments nothing.

Regrettably I don't think the views of landlords would be classed as 'populist' by many. We can all wish to be loved for the homes we provide....but that will never happen.

I read the latest Dyson article

I don't think that does the cause of BTL much good at all, quite the opposite in fact

Not in my name Mr Dyson, not in my name

I aim to make a 100 times more noise and seek to defy these odds instead of accepting them.

Might as well when there is no benefit to be had at all in doing taking this lying down.
