I think that's giving them more credit than they are due, Alison. As evidenced by the legislation on the table, these advisor teams are fairly dim-witted but not so dim-witted as to dismiss basic desk research and noting ideas during their information gathering chores.

When GO was one of these oiks he'd certainly have done the same, were the internet to have existed in its current form.

That said, there's no stopping open discussion and as a free speech advocate I would never recommend it 🙂

I just received an email from the Labour Party inviting me to ask David Cameron a question through Jeremy Corbin at PMQs. I look forward to the Labour Party's response to me : ) Here is my question:
"How can it be right or fair that the Government has introduced a retrospective tax measure which will mean that my income tax will increase by 213%, and my take home pay will decrease from £37,277 to £26, 901 - after suggesting that the "triple tax lock" will not mean any income tax increases?"

That would be a headache if you remortgage every 2 years .

Or it might be a way of repeatedly staying within your annual allowance. Maybe I should not suggest that in case it gives people ideas....

Hi Kathy,

Have you considered designing a survey to compare landlords' party allegiance and/or voting intentions pre-election and post Summer Budget? With a brief reminder of Clause 24's implications for those yet to grasp the nettle and big supplementary comments box.

I'm not sure of all the channels that you distribute your surveys through, but unlike the Buy-to-Let tax change petition, you would control the deadline.

The House of Lords Economic Affairs Committee has recently launched a new inquiry into the economics of the UK housing market.

The Committee wants evidence to be submitted in Word or PDF of how your business benefits not only your tenants and the local community, but the national economy as a whole. They are asking us to explain to peers the damage rent controls will cause to the sector, and how the recent changes in taxation will also affect landlords and their tenants (e.g. landlords being forced to sell up or put up rents). -

You beauty!

I'm going to be all over this tonight! We need to share these links far and wide too, as much as we did the petition.

Anyone seen this article - http://moneyweek.com/merryns-blog/buy-to-let-dont-do-it/
The comments are again the same blind leading the blind anti-landlord comments. Little useful commentary.
Do tenants really believe that they will be out there snapping up properties being rushed to the market or their rents wont be going up?
