Yes I agree Ros, every little will help. We would need to think about how we could let everyone know about it - maybe richard Dyson.

Does anyone know how we can find out who the Lords finance committee members are? We should think about how to start lobbying them and ask them to read all the written evidence submitted before coming to a conclusion. The danger is that they have already received a quiet word from GO to pass it!

Barry, it is good idea however very slim chances of getting anywhere as public Committee generally sings from same hymn sheet as government. Although there is no harm in starting another petition however the only SNAG I can see is that, people who are signing other Petition, their attention may well be diverted.

^ Laura, that list refers to House of Commons. As for the Lords:

At http://www.parliament.the-stationery-office.co.uk/pa/ld/ldstgs.htm it says:

'Finance, Consolidated Fund and Appropriation Bills
All of these are "Supply" bills. The Commons alone have the right to grant supply and the Lords cannot amend these bills.'

And much good they will do - as none of the previous ones were read by even one MP on the Committee, it would appear. This makes a mockery of the whole process. They invited us to send in evidence - they invited us to waste our time, to whistle in the wind. They must be exposed for this. I am trying a few different tacks - it would be good if others wrote to newspapers about this.

Great find Barry - thank you.

I will drop him an e-mail... if he didn't like a few quid tax he's going to hate the real Tenant Tax

"Its funny because without clause 24 I would be more than happy for rents to stay static for a decade or more, as I believe that I already make a reasonable return at current levels."

Totally agree!
