Saeef yes the reason I fwded that link is as you say in your first paragraph,

When I asked my MP who was wearing his treasury hat on 'are you hoping that institutions will take over the PRS' the response was 'hope so'.

As to MPs inexperienced and unresearched views that non incorporated landlords (looking for deals that stack up) are the ones inflating HP, I would suggest that the reality is that emotional OOs are the ones who have, are and will always be the main culprits for HPI. Even if the OO is encumbered the resi mortgages are sooooo cheap these days.

BTW Note to the 'haters' (HPC voyeurs here), as saw yr comments elsewhere earlier, the reason that sometimes posters use CAPS here is that this forum does not offer the option to use bold or italics to emphasise words or points.

Now, I have mentioned before how I write to lots of people who don't actually answer me, but I sometimes see some influence I may have had (! - yes, we all like credit but we don't always get it - and we're not in it for that, so we can let it go for the greater good). Well, the RLA never answers me (maybe they don't like me), but I did write to them a few days ago about a very misleading Shelter survey, accusing over a hundred thousand landlords of being abusive to their tenants. This is what I wrote to the RLA:

'Hi there.
Is there any possibility someone can work on refuting the Shelter nonsense about abusive landlords? I gather they did a limited survey and then concluded over a hundred thousand tenants had been abused by their landlords in the last year. Naturally, as a portfolio landlord myself, I have been verbally abused by countless tenants over the years - but Shelter, as usual, has only taken the word of tenants and there is no mention of tenants' bad behaviour. The tenants who have verbally abused me would be very likely to self-report that I had, in fact abused them. Shelter's abuse of statistics and their one-sided surveys need to be challenged for the flimsy, prejudiced nonsense that they are. I hope someone at your office can write and publicise something to combat their rabid anti-landlord propaganda.
Thanks.'

Well, they've written to Shelter! So I'm very pleased (although I won't hold my breath regarding the answer - but that's not the point). I really believe we have to challenge these prejudices as they lead to the outright discrimination George Osborne has felt enabled to mete out against us. And I'm very pleased the RLA isn't just taking this and has acted. This is the link:

HI Accidental.
Yes, I did claim on my insurance and was led a merry dance - but I was more than satisfied with the eventual settlement!

maybe .5 to 1% on PPR as CGT tax with some sort of relief or cap , that would certainly raise a serious amount of cash and be much fairer than the current proposals ..if we are to explore alternatives. BUT will leave everyonein fear of it rising at any time once introduced tho.

Hi BTL .
That was a great interview. We should think about trying to publicise it, as people find it easier to understand things when they're presented as 'telly.'
Curiously, at the end of it, it stated 'the petition is now closed.' I don't know if anyone wants to follow that up. Rather strange, as it made me worried so I checked and the petition is moving along nicely - over 27,000 now.
So, regarding publicising it... I'm not sure how to go about this. If we posted it at the end of Richard Dyson's on-line articles, it might not do that well, as on-line there just seems to be that awful group of landlord-bashers, plus a few landlords. I don't know if anyone else has any ideas? It is a good interview - I was really pleased with the guy, because it makes me feel we are not alone in this and others all over the country realise how truly preposterous it is.

Facebook with a post NB the petition is still open!

Those who tweet - tweet it.

On the actual property tribes site, where they are promoting the interview and campaign, there's an error statement and link to the petition.

If the government sees this post then I think they will do this, they have been trying for years to stop the cash market on builder trades!
