That IS very interesting. I subscribe to Brendan's emails as well.
Can't see why he would have an interest in the prospect of a House Price Crash?

Mark, I have read this article earlier. The only flaw I can find is that, the chap indicated that based on their survey landlords will be unaffected due to tax changes.

This can be read in two ways either he is sending a signal to chancellor that he may as well no bother with change as landlords are not phased by this and will continue to buy regardless.

The other way, it can be read is that, he is telling the chancellor to go ahead with changes but do not do any further changes...if latter is his intention then he might be colluded with government.

You can't present such findings to Chancellor as he might use this type of info to his advantage to justify forthcoming changes.

Hi Trendo

I totally agree and I enjoyed reading this, it brought some humour to the very serious situation we are all facing.

Many thanks Barry.

I am beginning to think that GO knows full well that BTL is not to blame for the housing crisis but he sees it as an opportunity to get rid of us to try and entice the big boys in. By placing the blame on us he knows that we will not get support from Joe public and he wont lose their votes. A smoke screen to hide the real reasons.

@Ros

One and possibly only advantage if GO now deems you as being a High Rate Taxpayer or Additional Rate Taxpayer is that for every pound you spend on maintenance you will reduce the amount of tax you'll pay by 40p or 45p respectively. So it'll only cost you 60p or 55p.

LMAO, so what we should really be asking him to do it in ease tax rates to 100% and then everything will be free?

Just kidding by the way! LOL

Hi Mark.
I think Ian Wilson should be ashamed of himself. Both Connie and I have written to him loads of times to criticise Martin and Co's continued inaccurate reporting of the issue in their newsletters and now he gets quoted in the Evening Standard. It would be good if someone based in London preferably could whip off a short letter to their letters page explaining how he is wrong to think this is no big deal for landlords - and how it is an outrageous policy etc. Any takers? The sooner the better. Or better still it would be good if someone could write to the journalist or a business or property editor at the paper.
