@Jerry,

Good luck at your meeting. Your MP really doesn't have a clue, so you've got a bit of educating to do there.

He's still missing the point.

Higher rate tax payers pay higher rate tax on profits.

If his logic is correct then why are finance cost restrictions only being applied to landlords and not all sole traders and partnerships, regardless of what sector they operate in?

Hi Jerry

“I’m still not sure why taxpayers should be rewarding rich landlords at a higher rate than poorer ones.”

I have not seen the emotive word “reward” used by anybody before in trying to justify the proposed change. Your MP has taken the gobbledegook up a notch, with a nod to the loony left.

Today sees the debate of the Syrian Refugee crisis where Cameron has now pledged to take 20,000 as a starting point through his second term of leadership. This is now happening at a time when my local newspaper's FRONT page article screams out "Homeless Crisis: We Got it Wrong" asking for help/advice from LLs etc to look at viable ways to ease our housing shortage such as using caravans, office blocks etc and interesting that local families are being forced further afield into B&Bs as far as Stansted, Reading, Cambridge etc. This article very clearly demonstrates that one hand does not know what the other is doing in terms of our government leadership and I expect more of these headlines in all our towns going forward. Darren Bell a great article for your meeting with Mark Lancaster MP when the time comes. (http://www.miltonkeynes.co.uk/news/community/community-news/homeless-crisis-we-got-it-wrong-1-6937201)

Quite so, Mark. Precisely the points I shall be making. I shall also mention it being the same "generosity" as that of the mugger that steals your wallet but lets you keep your phone!

Hi Accidental,

I have been mucked about with my appointment with Mark Lancaster, he keeps becoming unavailable. My guess its a topic he doesn't want to discuss.

Hi AL,
It's not just MK.

One thing we can all be sure of is it won't get any better if these proposals are implemented.

Hi Dom

The article you linked to had this at the end: “The Department for Communities and Local Government said it was the responsibility of councils "to house families in settled accommodation as quickly as possible" and said it had given them new tools to offer quality accommodation in the private sector to families as well.”

Does anyone know what these “new tools” are?

Hi AL,
Is it to do with today's announcement of diverted Foreign Aid to Councils?
Otherwise, I've no idea.
