Nice one David.
Well, there must have been no Category 1 danger, as they were willing to let her carry on living there until we managed to evict her. She's gone now and just put in a request for the deposit! She didn't pay the last month's rent, jammed up the loos with kitchen towel and has left loads of her rubbish. She also did a nice bit of effing and blinding down the 'phone at me, so that I had to hold the 'phone 6 inches from my ear. Luckily I don't get upset - had so much of it over the years. Even a paedophile who shot at his wife with a rifle during visitation rights with her 11 year old - and he called me a 'sanctimonious bitch' on the 'phone. I liked that insult. It meant I was good and I knew it. Ah, the stories and tales of my hands-off investment...

Did anyone volunteer to submit Q4 FOI request, which is a v important question? For reasons previously discussed it would be better coming from someone who has not done one recently.

Required steps:

1. Go to: https://online.hmrc.gov.uk/shortforms/form/DPU_FOI_Request?dept-name=DPUFOI&sub-dept-name=&location=37&origin=http://www.hmrc.gov.uk

2. Complete details in Part A.

3. In Part B copy/paste Q4 which is:

How many incorporated businesses let residential properties? And how many properties do these businesses own?

The above should all take under 1 minute.

We are straying from the level playing field into interesting but strictly not relevant areas. Let me try to level the field by suggesting a tax on home owners based on the rent they would be paying if they did not own the house - don't laugh it's no more daft than GO's idea for turnover tax on landlords. Tax on a non existent income is the order of the day.
In fact in the not too distant past we had such a tax, it was called domestic rates but of course this time round it should be levied in addition to council tax and paid to central government.
By heavily taxing both rented and owned accommodation we would solve the housing crisis which is caused by BTL and FTB combined.
Irony of sarcasm - I'm not sure - anger certainly - disfunctional logic probably.

I would be happy to do this in the morning if nobody else volunteers.

Test just received from Richard Dyson at The Telegraph ....

Thanks very much Mark.
I'm just publishing the online articles now - going live in the next 30mins. I'll include a link to your site.
What I have not included is the issue about HMRC not knowing the number of properties affected - there wasn't room in the print version. I think it will be better as a separate story in any case.
I will publish it during the week.
Thanks again for all yr help.
Richard

My reply ...

Thanks Richard, please send me a link.

I've had some case studies come forward this weekend, I've emailed a couple, a few more will follow.

All the best

Mark

Well, that' excellent that he is going to do an 'inbetween' story, in addition to the weekend ones. Great stuff.
