I have just received the following email from the office of George Freeman MP - I have taken the appointment. Note the VERY useful link re MP's expenses.

Dear Mr Alexander,

I can offer you an appointment at George's surgery on 2nd October at 11.30 am. This will take place in Attleborough Town Hall. Please let me know if this suits.

With regard to your information request, all of this is published on the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority website http://www.parliamentary-standards.org.uk/Default.aspx

Kind regards,

Hannah Rowley

@ Jerry Jones, or any other member who is a wizz with spreadsheets (not my forte).

I would like to construct a similar letter to my MP to the one sent by Jerry Jones.

My MP's expenses can be found via this link >>> http://www.parliamentary-standards.org.uk/MPAndConstituencyData.aspx?conId=DA91CF91-D16D-444D-916E-AD9CE9332157

Can somebody do the number crunching for me to work into Jerry's letter template please?

I thought using a more direct analogy as my MP is a Landlord also (albeit a commercial property which tax relief could be withdrawn in the future).

I am pushing for an early meeting.

I'm compiling a list of those directly and indirectly affected by the landlord tax for my meeting with Mark Lancaster.

Directly resulting from landlords remaining in business.
- Landlords income.
- Tenants rents (Raised to keep rental businesses in the green)

Indirectly affected
- Gas engineers
- Small builders
- Maintenance & repair companies.
- Electricians and plumbers (Gas engineers).
- Builders merchants.

Anyone like to expand or refine the list.

Mortgage brokers
People advertising training to build buy to let
Inventory clerks
Letting agents

I suppose to start with estate agents , solictors and surveyors might be busy due to properties being sold

Interesting interface though.

I think it is interesting to compare us with hotel owners.
I read today that a hotel owner in West Wales is worried about the rain and how it will affect business. People might feel sorry for this small business owner - he needs to get the custom in to pay the bills. But, of course, whatever happens he will be able to deduct his finance interest as a cost.
Why should the provider of non-essential, 'luxury', 'duplicated' (because his guests already have a primary residence) be respected as a legitimate business person, but landlords who provide primary and essential accommodation to students, young professionals, unemployed, low-paid and even highly-paid workers, migrant workers and so on be castigated as some kind of leeches? And have finance costs reinterpreted as though they were part of our personal expenditure?

And why are we thought of so badly, when I doubt that the owners of B&Bs housing the emergency homeless are?

I bet they can continue to claim all their interest.
