I have just sent this to Andrew Pierce at the Daily Mail:

'Hi Andrew.
Now you may remember I gave you a scoop regarding the buy-to-let tax grab (that's one new name for it). Well, Richard Dyson, a journalist at the Telegraph has now kick-started our campaign and done a two-page spread in the Money section of the Telegraph today. His set of articles explain some of the issues very well, but there are loads more implications to be explored and the more people know about this stupid decision of the Chancellor's (and his advisers), the sooner we'll get a u-turn. Here are the links:

Death of buy-to-let: landlords wake up to Osborne's 150pc tax

Richard Dyson writes: 'It is a tax from Alice in Wonderland, a truly bonkers tax, a tax you’d laugh at – if it were being applied in a Third World country by a lunatic dictator.' This is the link to that article:

This Alice in Wonderland tax sets a new benchmark in absurdity.'

Can you pass this email on to the investigations team? They didn't contact me after your previous email to them! I believe this tax will make the UK a laughing stock, internationally - as it so outrageously ridiculous and unfair. To this end we are forwarding the link to the articles to various international newspapers. It would be so good if the Daily Mail could also take this on.
Thanks very much and have a great weekend.'

Great article from Richard Dyson. Disappointing to read the ignorant and vicious opinions from Telegraph readers commenting on the article. One can only assume they accept the principle of unfair taxation provided they are not on the receiving end.

Three thoughts have occurred to me this afternoon. None of them are earth shattering and I guess we already know them, but nevertheless I just keep turning them over and over in my mind.

Firstly I truly believe that this is the first of much press coverage we will receive. Of course a good amount will be negative, it's hard for the press to do an immediate u-turn the same as it is for GO. But give it time and it will happen.

Secondly, whilst the Labour party is in complete disarray, when we start winning the understanding of the Public, how many of their current MP's and ex MP's will be thinking that whilst this was really their policy, they're really glad that it was Conservative that introduced it.

Lastly, and I know it's not a revelation, but isn't politics strange? We have top economists saying that this idea is 'plain wrong' and yet the man that is implementing it is in charge of the country's fiscal policies but his qualification is in history.

Really bizarre isn't it?

There is a very small group of people who believe that houses should be available to OO for the price of a good holiday, i think you will find that most of the comments come from a particular place !

I'm really shocked by how bitter people are. The comments are very scathing, and reflects the negative image of landlords that has been compounded for years and years. Found the property11hater.

And there's a five page spread in the guardian magazine today about rogue landlords. There's one comment about how good it is that landlords have stopped receiving their tax breaks! We really are truly hated by society, even more so than bankers after the financial crash. I'm sorry to say that this is a hearts and minds battle we will not win anytime soon. But if we can at least win the battle of common sense on this tax nonsense.

And there of course lies our problem in seeking some kind of change. Lots of schadenfreude from the general public.

I just had an email from Professor Philip Booth and he said that he thought the article was excellent and is delighted it worked out for us. So I have passed on that to Richard Dyson - it's not bad getting an endorsement like that for a newspaper article.
I am so pleased with how the day has gone. We have to build on this now. I'd like it covered in more newspapers - especially those with a wide circulation. My method, apart from contacting some people on spec, is to target the ones who show any interest in the subject at all. The article by Richard is now an excellent resource for us - it gives us added credibility and also explains things very clearly - so we should now disseminate it as much as we can. I'm going to do that now.

Reply to the comment left by "Neil Allen" at "22/08/2015 - 18:24":

Yes Neil you are completely right.

However I'm sure none of us thought that one article in the Telegraph was job done. It is definitely a major milestone but there will be many more.

As for the comments online with the Telegraph - ignore them. The country is full of hateful non-achievers that like nothing better than pulling people down. I would daresay that many of them spend their evenings watching the likes of Dead Enders and are thus brainwashed into a daily ritual of negativity. Most of them are in dead end jobs with dead end lives so watching dead end TV fits well. Sure they have the choice to make something of themselves but they choose not to. To hell with them! We are clever, resourceful and talented people that will either nail this stupid proposal or find ways to deal with it until it is scrapped. I know that for some the light is not yet shining at the end of the tunnel and we flip between euphoria, hope and despair. However we will win this fight.
