John I agree. We have all had a say on this now & so we should acknowledge and thank the naysayers for the useful dissenting views and opinions but those views offer absolutly no solutions and simply serve to make more raw the wound and detract us from making progress.

If it were, we have had our consultation and the objections have been heard and offer no solutions at all. So thanks for the input but it is now time for you to jog on to another forum.... My last post comes from that place - "enough debate and moaning lets get to real substantive actions"...

Thanks Anne. Yes, if Mark can forward it to me that would be helpful. I already have Connie's. It would also be good if Kathy and Neil are reading this and also give permission. That way I can liaise with you all directly as soon as I have the submissions ready and we can cut out the middle man (Mark!)

As you say, Mark. This IS the action forum.

Ros, I think I've found him and sent him an email. I also have his mobile number but I won't call till tomorrow.

He seems to be an Australian that is property developing in UK and based in Surrey.

Hello Ros, I was trying to catch up on posts here and just read your comment about Finland.

Rental income is regarded as capital income (investment income) and taxed at 30%, or 33% over a certain amount.

I think interest is calculated as a LOSS, but could you check? I may be reading it wrongly. It states that the tax return form may already be pre-populated with interest info received from lenders:
https://www.vero.fi/en-US/Individuals/Rental_income

Maybe I'm reading and interpreting wrongly. Could somebody help?

Mark A
will you share with us your talking points for your consultation?

Would be at all useful to send you a bullet point list of things -
- Cause and effect issues,
- discriminatory prospectives
- forecasts for our local markets etc.

Alas....The btl sector was the last sector of the investment world that had not been targeted by the government. It was ripe for picking. Pensioners and savers with cash in the bank have had it bad for quite a long while. I've been boring most of my btl friends this last year in particular that It would not be long before he targeted this sector too and to be honest....I would not be surprised if the likes of paragon where half expecting this move.

If you rent out a dwelling that you own, you are entitled to claim the interest payments as expenses for the production of income.

James, presumably you are not founder of housepricecrash.com? As ever, since I have seen you, you seem to come out with rotten, cold and sarcastic comments.

Others have seemed to ignore you by taking you light heartedly .. but you seem to be enjoying plight of hard-working landlords.
