Has anyone thought about or contacted Boris Johnson? In his words he would find this whole thing 'bonkers'. This will have an even more adverse effect for Londoners pushing rents up even further. I can't imagine he will overtly support us, but he may have a quiet word. I doubt even he understands the full implications.

I had him on my list but thought there was no point as I am not a Londoner.
Maybe some of the Londoners (maybe it's because I'm a Londoner, that I feel a song coming on), can do this. I believe that being the maverick he is, he could be willing to not toe the imbecilic party line.

Regarding examples, can people do some of these and get them ready to send to the Public Committee on the Finance Bill? I think submissions to this Committee are essential and a real chance to get our voices heard by the very people scrutinising the Finance Bill. We would be mad not to take this opportunity.
For people like Appalled who are too busy with something else, I'm looking for volunteers to submit some reports that I hope to put together in the coming week. You can adapt them as you want or send them in as prepared by me. I might need maybe 4 or 5 people... Let me know here if you are willing, I'll make a note of your names, then later on send Mark the submissions which he can forward to you and you can then amend and/or just dispatch.

I think Ruhal suggested Boris, and seeing that Ruhal started the petition and is mentioned as 'a London landlord', it may have the most impact coming from him, though I am sure adapting letters already shared on here will make his job easier.
I'm afraid I'm no longer a Londoner, although I did love London so.

Good plan Connie, re doing it for Ruhal - he can just pass it on then. It would be good if some others based in London could also do this though and as then it is more likely to have an impact.
Re my reports, I'm no expert, and am just aiming to write everything I can think of that is relevant and then cut it down into chunks. I'll be taking lots of stuff from here, too, I expect.
What I'm not good at is doing the calculations - I tried once and I've got very limited software so didn't manage it. I'm hoping maybe BTL can do a few when he gets back from holiday and put in a short report, just saying ' hey, look, these are the mad consequences of this daft policy.' And let the examples speak for themselves.
