Hi Ros
Not sure if you have Gerald Howarth MP ( Aldershot) on your list as I have written to him ( and had a reply!). Also Ann Milton MP for Guildford, spoken face to face, though don't know if that counts

Thanks for all your efforts

Thanks Ian. I didn't have those MPs' names down; in any case the more people that write and see their MPs the better. Personally, I think face-to-face is the best - although I had to make my appointment with my MP for late September because of the recess (but I've sent him 3 or 4 emails with details, links, the petition etc - I asked him to circulate it among MPs, but I've had no answer from him about that). If anyone else can get their Labour MP on board, they could also try this.
Also, can anyone else who has contacted their MP let me know? I only have a record of 37 being contacted so far (the RLA has also asked its members to contact MPs though, and hopefully a lot more have been contacted).
It may be the same as the whole campaign - that it will gradually pick up speed as people realise what's happening. This is why the Press is also so important in terms of getting the message out there. There was a slightly sympathetic journalist on the Sky Press Preview last night, talking about aspiration and why it wasn't wrong for a working class person to rent out a house they'd bought under 'Right to Buy' and then go and buy another house (personally, I never bought my father's council house, which I could have got for a steal, because I felt uncomfortable about taking the social housing stock away from those who need it! )
Anyway, thanks Ian. By the way, how was Ann Milton when you spoke to her? Was she at all sympathetic or did she have the blinkers on like most people before they understand?

Ros in case you don't have it down, I've written to Shailesh Vara (MP for North West Cambridgeshire), David Cameron and Brandon Lewis. Only one I've not had a response from is Mr Lewis, who is probably reeling from the proposal too. How can he try and sort out housing with this going on?

Thanks John. Just adding these now. I didn't have Shailesh Vara and although I have the other two, I add on the spreadsheet that they've received another communication. Thanks for that.
And come on everyone who hasn't given me the details of who they've contacted. Get me up past 40!
PETITION JUST GONE TO OVER 13,000!

I don't think Ann, or Gerald for that matter were fully aware of the full implications - I.e. Tax to be paid on losses etc. I have followed up with the excellent fact sheet at the top of each page of this forum article, but no response since then. Am also sending to a friend of mine who has a £15M commercial & res portfolio inside a Ltd, so hoping he will distribute to his cronies and sign the petition.... Will see....

I just contacted the journalist 'Camilla Tominey' at the Sunday Express as she was sympathetic to landlords on the TV last night (at least working class ones who rent out their bought social housing. She's in favour of 'aspiration') - thought it was worth a try. I've asked if she can do a story on this or if she can pass my email to someone who can.

I know it may be too soon....but what would be good for the representation in front of the Treasury is anecdotal evidence from estate agents of landlords that have already instructed them to sell properties on the back of this budget move.

Nice work Ian. Regarding the friend with the limited company, he should be worried enough to support us, as he might be next.

Hi

Can someone give me the link to letter to send to MP , I didnt send it last time because he did not respond to my letter sent before on another matter. He had many people go to him against me as they did not like me housing DSS renters next to them. But I will see if I get a response this time.
