I just received an email from Professor Philip Booth, one of the economists we are quoting, who reported at the Treasury Select Committee on the Budget and said the tax relief idea 'didn't make sense.' He is also the one who did the analysis of this 'Green Party proposal' back in February. I had sent him the 'Dave and Margaret' example and the Aunt Sally one, suggesting it could be light reading for him on his holiday...
His conclusion is that he finds the whole thing 'depressing,' (I had pointed out how his and Paul Johnson's expert opinions had been ignored) but he did give me an idea which I think we should think carefully about and follow up. He suggested we try and persuade the Saturday Telegraph to run a campaign on it. He said that these campaigns can be quite influential and even work. I haven't had a chance to look at previous campaigns yet, but it seems to me like it's definitely worth a try. I'd welcome any ideas regarding how we go about this.

Hey everyone. In case you missed it, take a look at this thread:

http://www.property118.com/have-your-say-on-the-finance-bill-2015/77383/

If a tidy handful of us could prepare separate, concise submissions - maybe liaise so that we can cover all the relevant issues, wouldn't that be good?

Hi Mark.
I'd prefer to copy it to you privately, as it is a private correspondence, and I was actually worrying about quoting from it. It was very brief, but I'm sure he wouldn't mind me showing it to you. He's obviously supportive, but is bound to be a very busy person, and he's tried to make them see sense and they haven't listened, so he doesn't have any 'cunning plan' he can share with us, unfortunately!
