Brilliant Mark! This is very promising. I feel excited and optimistic. Well done for getting this opportunity. Let us know what we need to do to help and I am sure we will all be willing.

Done (although I have only a handful of followers. but that does include a top Telegraph journalist). Love the word ABSURD.
It shall be my mot du jour.

We have to keep up the pressure now. Please can everyone who hasn't written to their MPs about this, do it today.
Ask them specifically to put questions to the Treasury. Several of the MPs we have written to have done or offered to do this. That could be a good move.

Let's keep this momentum going.

I am convinced

1. Those who know of it don't understand it -
the main reaction is as you say "let my accountant worry about that. HELLO!!! My accountant wrote to me the day after the budget saying "be worried" if Accountants are not saying that they too are in the dark.

2. Those that have heard of it don't believe it -
they think it cant be true and us landlords are all paranoid nutters... They think there is no way the government would treat anyones affairs or tax you in the way. I see it in their eyes when I talk to them - they don't believe us.

In my humble opinion...We now need to focus and have a single slogan / streamlined approach / position. We must use simple, consistent, understandable, unambiguous terms, words and strategies. No more talk or mention of interest tax for instance. We need to find the common words that correctly say what is it and use common words to reject it and common words to develop one strategy and one approach to letting everyone know what is s what will happen and what we will have to do.

We need to pick a limited set of characters and businesses that we stick with and use them consistently to demonstrate the impact..

Example 1: "John the landlord has 10 properties, with 50 tenants. His rents £x rents and he has £Y in mortgages and £Z costs. Johns tax will now be £F which is an effective tax rate of K%. To cover the increase and avoid certain bankruptcy, John will need to increase rents by B% or find £Q to restructure as a business to avoid the tax altogether. People need to know John and be able to understand his predicament, maths and issues .

Any takers??
