Whoever thought we would see landlords funding a campaign to save tenants from rent hikes and eviction?

It’s happening though!

Bournemouth is the latest City to see the erection of Section 24 campaign billboards.

The first in Bournemouth is located just off 549 Wimbourne Road, Winton BH9 2HP, and traffic data shows that 578,635 motorists will pass it every month.

The second is located at 157 Holdenhurst Road, BH8 8DQ. Traffic data figures are 842,985 a month.

These are two of 10 additional campaign billboards to be erected following a Just Giving fundraising campaign started by Property118 Managing Director Neil Patterson just over a week ago.

The campaign was inspired by David Heard, a landlord based in Portsmouth, who was so frustrated that his MP was “stone-walling” him that he decided to dedicate his own billboard to attract her attention.

The Just Giving campaign is ongoing and we would like to see more of these billboards in many other towns and cities. Please see the link below for further details of the campaign.

I have donated to this as have others. This is such a big issue for landlords and tenants. I would prefer to donate a monthly subscription to this awareness effort. We need more landlords and tenants on side to ensure this becomes a big national news issue.
I have a few btw properties and would be happy to have a standing order for £50.00 a month. Smaller portfolio landlords could donate less and bigger landlords could donate more. Just £5.00 per property a month would make a huge difference to the revenue that this project could have.
We have to make the renting public aware and make them turn opinion on the politicians to have any chance of a policy change. This current policy is being shielded by the huge coverage of Brexit and it is a good time for the government to 'lose' bad news issues with the press.

Hi David

I like your thinking but I am not aware of a Crowdfunding website which is geared up to collecting monthly subscriptions. Are you?

Hi Mark,
No i don't know much about crowd funding sites full stop. I guess a not for profit business/account could be set up to take over the great work done so far - but i am full of ideas and less smart on the how to put into practice side of things! I just feel that if we can get more landlords supporting this more regularly then the result would be even more powerful.
I have be pumping P118 as much as i can to get more people using this site as i feel it has a lot to offer. The billboard campaign is just one good thing to come via this site.

The billboard sites would need to be selected with care. The one photo shews a board along what looks to be a busy main road. Absolutely useless, with too much information, neither driver nor passengers could possibly take it all in unless stuck in a traffic jam.

Traffic jams and regular commuters are brilliant for billboard advertisers
