nottingham ccNottingham City Council (NCC) is looking to implement a citywide selective licensing designation, which proposes to license 35,000 residential properties at a cost of £600 per property.

This designation will include all non-HMO properties in the city. They intend to undertake a 10 week consultation in the near future with the scheme to commence early 2018.

Please see the link to the NCC proposal. Click Here

The Selective Licencing section starts at page 25 with the designation details from page 151 onwards.

The sheriffs of Nottingham have risen from the dead and we have a viper within our camp!

They attack the poor via the rear of the castle where the moat of speedy spend spend has all but dried up.

They attack the peasants with taxes and blame the good landlords for their pathetic schemes of conquest.

Verily I say to thy chaps and chappessies of Good Merry England.

We need the good Robin Hood to fire an arrow of common sense into the air, where it shall land this carcass of dastardly deeds shall be buried.

Do not pay a great British Pound to this kidnapper of democracy and spender of other people's money, for they couldn't sort out their undergarments in a laundry basket.

What say thee that the MP Anna Soubry can never be called 'Fair' Maid Marion?

As she fights for her place in folk history as enemy of the voting people, of Nottingham, who will be forced to become European citizens once more, under the evil yolk of the counts of Brussels and Strasbourg.

Beware the betrayal of the poor by all in power.

Vote UKIP!

It is disgusting.
More expense which is going to have to eventually come from tenants.

35,000 properties @ £600 = £21 million upfront. Nice little earner. Equivalent to £4.2 million each year. With no doubt a substantial increase to the licensing fee every five years.

Luckily my 7 rental properties are not in Nottingham. Otherwise I'd have to write a cheque out for £4,200. Ouch !!!

Another blood sucking bunch of tax payer funded Zealots. As someone who has campaigned relentlessly against this Licence scam regime, I suggest Landlords take an extremely robust line against these idiots. Take over the consultation meetings, as they are simply a cover to allow useless councils to introduce their revenue raising schemes. Let the Council know in no uncertain terms that there is no cosy relationship between them and us, which is the lie they love to foster. "we work with good landlords who support our schemes". Utter tosh. They care about neither landlords or tenants but raising revenue to employ more of their honchos to impose further regulatory burdens on the PRS which at this stage is creaking under mountains of red tape, from Pre requisites to issuing section 21 notices to deposit protection. They are in fact micro managing the PRS. Think about it Landlords. You need a licence to rent a property which you have purchased and maintained . It is your asset ,but these idiots want you to pay them for permission to deal with your asset as you see fit. Having obtained the useless licence, your problems do not terminate, rather they start when the "busybodies" demand inspections and pull you because a tenant has dumped their old sofa which you do not own , in the yard outside. This act by a feckless tenant could land you in court with a criminal record, and sanctions for breach of a condition ,which you did not breach. Councils have more than enough power to deal with poor housing, and real rogue landlords, without imposing these burdens on good hard working law abiding members of society.
To illustrate my point look at Liverpool . 18 months in to a scheme, One prosecution and said prosecution was not for poor housing, rather the landlord chose not to sign up to their nonsense and faced the full rigours of the law. What a travesty.

It's obviously a money making scam. I don't agree with any of this, but if I did, how about £100 per property. This would bring in £3.5 million which I am sure is enough of a contribution to help tackle anti social behaviour over a five year period.

Landlords are being treated like bankers after the crash. We're unfortunately politically soft targets. Regretably I have 1 property in Nottingham which I will now think about off loading at the first opportunity.

I find this shocking. If this is successfully implemented, all councils will follow suit.

And as for £600? Well, that's where it will start ...

At least that's an expense that can be set of against profit. For now, anyway!

It started quite a while back. There are several schemes in place in various parts of the country, generally around the £500/property mark.

So it will spread like a virus then, picking up speed as it takes hold.

Out of interest, does this apply to all LLs? Any exemptions, such as large, corporate LLs, student campuses, etc.?
