New technology should be taking the property market forward but agents aren’t embracing it, an Imfuna Let survey has found.

Imfuna Let, the new digital inventory system, found that while 90 of the hundred letting agents surveyed thought technology improves their service to clients, only 33% had smartphones that would allow them to work on the move. A stat they’re unlikely to have wanted to hear as their new software is for that platform.

Three quarters believe technology improves productivity but 64% still had issues with the security of new technology for inventory reports.

While the figure of those questioned may be fairly low, the statistic that only 11% will be investing in improved technology is a startling one.

Jax Kneppers founder of Imfuna Let commented, “We commissioned this research to better understand the views of letting agents to technology. What is surprising is that whilst there is a noticeable acceptance of the importance of technology there is a real lack of adoption. We believe we have a product that will transform the inventory process providing very real and tangible business benefits for anyone who uses it.”

Their software, they say, will provide an online hub for landlords’ inventory process. It is a mobile app- available from the various app stores and markets- that generates a report online rather than a pdf file, allowing more scope for editing the report among other benefits.

Jax Kneppers continued, saying “The inventory process has remained largely the same over the last 20 years but there is technology available today that can make this process simpler, more efficient and ultimately improve any letting business. With Imfuna Let we have taken the core skills of an inventory clerk and applied them using current technology. The result is an inventory process that is faster, simpler and more cost effective. “

As a letting agent I can say that the desire to embrace new technology is very strong, and I wish the industry as a whole could move forward together.

The problem is however, that the property industry includes every demographic going because housing affects everyone, so any changes made, are accepted slowly.

This, combined with the cost and the the sheer speed of changing technology, makes it very hard to jump in feet first into a new technology - no matter how powerful and impressive.
