When you are looking for a landlord insurance policy, you may look at one of the big-name comparison websites.

While these can be a good starting point, they may not be the best way to find the right insurance policy. Saving a couple of pounds may be a false economy if you ever need to make a claim, mid-term adjustment or cancellation.

Here at Property118, we’ve teamed up with The Home Insurer which helps provide a top-class service to ensure you get the right policy and could help save you money.

Insurance cover that meets your individual needs

Using a comparison website may be quick and give you a general overview but it may not be the best option if you are looking for something specific, such as sub-let insurance, a property being renovated, a property waiting for tenants etc.

As a landlord, you may be faced with unique challenges, and you want insurance cover that meets your individual needs.

A landlord insurance broker can talk with you to discuss landlord insurance cover and your property in detail.

The Home Insurer works with a panel of insurers who have access to a wide number of insurers that often have insurance products that can’t be found on comparison websites.

Unlike other insurance brokers, with The Home Insurer you can call and speak to the same person who deals with your policy all year long.

Cheaper doesn’t always mean the best service

While comparison websites may offer lower prices, cheaper doesn’t always mean the best service. You need to read the small print as sometimes online comparison websites sell you the cheapest policy with the least amount of cover.

Most comparison websites cover the basics such as fire and theft but if you need to make a claim for something else then it could cost you thousands of pounds.

It’s important to check in detail what you are covered for. For example, are you covered for things like malicious damage, building and contents cover and flooding?

No hidden costs when it comes to insurance brokers

An insurance broker can go through all the specific details with you and make sure you are covered for the right things. Insurance brokers can also give advice and help you in submitting an insurance claim.

Unlike comparison websites, there are no hidden costs when it comes to insurance brokers. Brokers are obliged to be completely transparent about the costs associated with arranging your insurance.

For peace of mind, brokers are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), and your fair treatment is further guaranteed through the Financial Ombudsman Service.

The Home Insurer is authorised and regulated by the FCA and are a member of the British Insurance Brokers Association (BIBA).

The Home Insurer has earned several prestigious awards for its exceptional customer service, including the respected 2020 UK Customer Service Excellence Award for Best Customer Retention and Loyalty. Most recently it won an award within its home county of Northamptonshire for high levels of service.

With a renewal retention rate of more than 90% backed up with Feefo and Google independent customer review scores of 4.9 out of 5, The Home Insurer offers a top-notch service and peace of mind knowing you are covered.

The Home Insurer prides itself on delivering the best service

One of the reasons many landlords use an insurance broker is that it offers a personal touch.

The Home Insurer prides itself on delivering the best service and puts clients at the heart of the business.

Jason McClean, the firm’s director, says: “I think we try to solve property insurance problems for people at the best price possible. Saying that, there may be somebody out there who can get a cheaper quote but with us, you get what you paid for.

“If you go for the very lowest possible quote with a different insurance company, whenever you have a claim or need to speak to that insurer, you probably won’t be speaking with the same person. You may not welcome the long phone waits, multiple menu options and being cut off either; that’s my experience of big call centres and think many feel the same.

“Here at The Home Insurer, you can ring us up and speak to the same person who deals with your policy all year long. There is only a 15-second FCA prescribed message before you are talking to a real person.”

Jason added: “I think the most valuable thing we have particularly with Property118 clients is they renew year after year.

“We go out of our way to have a relationship with them, understand their business and understand what their needs are and deliver to their needs.”

With The Home Insurer, you get peace of mind knowing you are covered for everything you need.

You also have the unique advantage of speaking to the same friendly adviser who deals with your insurance policy without going through a complicated automated system or being passed around different departments.

The Home Insurer can help ease the worry for landlords with insurance and all for the best price.

The most efficient way to get a personal quote with the best price and cover possible is to call the team on 01832 770965 so they can focus on your enquiry when you are ready and sitting down with your portfolio details to hand.

Alternatively, you can use the form below to request one of the team to give you a call back.

I have tried other insurance companies and found that there's unnecessary questions . Such as bankruptcy which I paid the horrible price and discharged over 35 years ago. But still this and other questions are asked. If I had anything like this is could be found without having to ask me. Nice to see your comments.

I still use a broker, and they are still cheaper than comparison websites.

We have insured through Hamilton Fraser and the NRLA for over 20 years and found them to be totally geared towards landlords.
I checked Direc Line's offering which I proved that if the tenant lost their job, you simultaneously lost your insurance cover.
Not sure if this flaw still exists in their cover.
All the retail insurers cannot cope with anything non-standard.
How can the landlord know when the tenant becomes unemployed?
Buy the right insurance, do not penny pinch.
A good broker will assist you with the claim.
