Seems like the council bosses want to implement another area for selective licensing without doing a proper consultation as far as I know.

* I’m not a landlord yet 😉 Thought I give a heads up to other Landlords. Click Here for the link to the local TeesideLive article.

“A scheme credited with boosting house prices and tackling crime in one of Middlesbrough’s most deprived areas could be expanded to a second location.

“Middlesbrough Council introduced selective landlord licensing in North Ormesby in 2016. Any landlord looking to rent out a property in the area must now apply to the council for a licence costing ÂŁ580 per home. The project aimed to tackle anti-social behaviour and rogue landlords while also improving the quality of rental homes.

“Now the council is planning to roll out the scheme in Newport ward, focusing mainly on Gresham. A council review says it could be introduced in April 2019.

“However, fees could be higher – with a ÂŁ750 charge initially being proposed.”
